Until recently Lanai was nothing more than a giant pineapple plantation, but it’s now evolved into an elite getaway destination.  It is renowned for its cliff perched high-end resorts and spectacular golf courses. Few “tourists” and activities are found on the island(or much of anything for that matter).  The few popular scenic destinations are difficult and time consuming to reach.  If you’re visiting Hawaii for attractions, shopping or natural wonders, you would best look elsewhere.  If you can’t afford to stay at one of Lanai’s expensive resorts, you can take a ferry and day tour of the island from Maui.   To get a feel for the island through video, learn about trips from Maui, and find out through videos if other islands are for you, please purchase our low cost Hawaiian Islands app.
